Why Slovenia

Four reasons companies build here.

Engineering education.

A rigorous STEM tradition from school onwards. The University of Ljubljana's Faculty of Computer and Information Science, the University of Maribor and the Jožef Stefan Institute supply a steady stream of engineers and researchers.

English and work ethic.

English is the working language of Slovenian tech. Slovenians are known for being direct, dependable and quietly thorough.

EU stability and protection.

EU law, the euro and GDPR. Contracts, data protection and IP rules your legal team already knows. For EU clients, no data-transfer mechanism is needed.

Easy to work with.

Central European Time and short flights. See below.

Time zone and travel

Easy to work with, easy to visit.

Time zone

Central European Time (CET/CEST, UTC+1/+2). A full shared working day with most of Europe; agreed working hours give overlap with teams in other time zones.

Travel

Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport has direct flights to Europe's major hubs, so most visitors arrive in one flight or one connection.

Visiting

The office is in central Ljubljana, about 30 minutes from the airport.

Honest answers.

You need a team of 3 to 15 strong people, not 500. Ljubljana's university and tech community, and Slovenians returning from abroad make that realistic.

Bigger markets have more engineers and often lower rates. Slovenia gives you a smaller, senior-heavy pool, EU law and the euro, a stable country in the middle of Europe, and a team you can visit on a short flight. If you need 200 engineers in a year, a bigger market is the better choice. If you need a strong team of 3 to 15 that stays, Slovenia is hard to beat.

Often, especially compared with the most expensive tech hubs. But the bigger reason companies come is availability: senior people without a months-long search.

The office is the team's home base and we encourage working there together. Engineers can work from home when needed.

Your team works on Central European Time (CET). That means a full shared working day with most of Europe. For teams in other time zones, we agree working hours that give you enough live overlap every day.

Yes, and we encourage it. Our office is in central Ljubljana, a short flight from Europe's major hubs.
